Alabama is arguably the best college football program in history. With a bunch of national titles & also a bunch of wins how can you argue? Also, a long lists of storied & amazing coaches
on top of that. This college football giant is an empire. From the early years to the present you can't ignore a true powerhouse.
Can you say greatest coach of all-time? Can you say "The Bear" has arrived? Can you say record accomplishments? These are all words used to describe Paul "Bear" Bryant as the head football coach
of Alabama during the program's earlier years. 25 great seasons at Alabama including 6 national championships. His time at Alabama was ended due to health. Sadly, a short time later not only his
coaching ended but so did his life due to to a heart attack at the age of 69.
From 1993-1976 Ray Perkins showed his coaching abilities. He compiled a 32-15-1 record during his 4 years of coaching at Alabama. Bill Curry followed up with three winning seasons from 1987-1989.
His overall record stands at 26-10 for his time spent as Alabama. There could have possibly been more wins if it not had been for disagreements with the Alabama athletics department. This lead to
his departure after only 3 seasons.
From 1990-1996 Gene Stallings had about as successful coaching years as any school would want. Garnering 62 wins & only 25 losses. Well, 8 of those wins were docked by the NCAA due violation
of NCAA rules by a former player. Not only that, 30 scholarships were taken from 1995-1998. They were also banned from post-season play during the 1995 season.
4 total coaching changes from 1997-2006. Actually, there was only 3 but one of them(Mike Price) only lasted a few months on the job due to a scandal. DuBose done an excellent job in his 4 seasons
the numbers were great including an SEC title. Franchoine had two solid initial seasons. He left for Texas A&M in what people called a crazy move. Mike Shula showed great promise early on.
However, his final campaign lead him out the door after suffering through a 6-7 season.
